The hike was done in July of 2003. It is a relatively easy hike that could take less than couple of hours. Sneakers are necessary at times, but not essential. Care should be practiced due to possible landslides and because of hight that could produce vertigo. Only few places on the northern side present opportunities for on the rim approach, but be warned that is only at your own risk. We would advise you not to approach the rim there at all. Seven year old, possibly younger kids should be able to do the hike under supperwised adult guidance. The western side is moderately challenging due to dense vegetation and at times steep terrain. Regarding ease of the hike, the clockwise direction is preferable. Even better idea is to take the eastern cliff route reaching to the north cliff and back.
