In 1715 father Stipan Vrljić (1677-1742) fled Proložac Blato island with a large group of refugees, to the safety of nearby Omiš.  He returned to Imotski on 8.2.1717, on the day of Our Lady of Angels. It was a day of liberation for Imotski after 224 years of Turkish rule. This monument was sculptured by Josip Poljan, and was erected  in 1998, at the 250th anniversary of the Fransciscan covenant.
