The second largest city of Croatia, and capital of the province Dalmatia.  Split is very attractive tourist destination.  In 295 A.D. Roman emperor Diocletian started to build his retirement palace at the place of today’s Split.  He spent last few years of his life there.  Take some time and visit old town, magnificent cathedral and old squares.  You can still see walls and buildings from that time.  I would highly recommend promenade to the Marjan hill.  Make sure to visit the Riva at evening hours, it is the main meeting place of  Split's peoples.   In the morning hours visit the fish market.  Split is also big port, so take trip to nearby islands. By the way, famous Dalmatian dogs are coming from this region.
