Dominican church construction begun in 1228. The Renaissance-styled church was designed to provide defence and spiritual guidance for Dubrovnik. It protects the eastern gate Ploće, while the Franciscan church protects the Pile gate. The museum hauses a collection of 15th and 16th paintings, created during the city's cultural and economic boom.

Marin Držić´s Theatre * Marin Držić´s Theatre building. Marin Držić theater evolved from Bondin theater, established in 1865. Further away is Rectors Palace, built 1441 is designed in gothic and early renaissance style.
